Restorative and Preventative Dentistry

At Dr. Glenn McCormick’s office, we are dedicated to providing your entire family with dental care worth smiling about. Along with high quality cosmetic dentistry, our practice also performs restorative and preventative dentistry to maintain strong teeth, healthy gums, and an attractive smile.

Restorative Dentistry

Tooth decay, infections, and injury can result in missing or severely damaged teeth. Restorative dentistry can mend a broken smile and repair many types of mouth damage you may have sustained.

We use the most advanced dental technology, such as CEREC 3D and soft tissue laser treatment, to make every one of our restorative procedures as painless, convenient, and comfortable as possible.

Bridges

If you are missing teeth or have had teeth removed, a bridge can be used to bridge the gaps between your existing teeth. A bridge can also help if a missing tooth or teeth affect your ability to chew or speak. Similarly referred to as fixed partial dentures, bridges ensure existing teeth do not shift, which can cause bite or jaw problems in the future. The gaps are filled in with realistic, artificial teeth. Perhaps most importantly, bridges provide you with a natural, full smile. If you’d like to learn more about bridges, contact us today.

Crowns

Also referred to as a cap, a crown is permanently fitted over a tooth that is cracked, chipped, damaged, decayed, or discolored. Crowns provide comfort and support for damaged teeth while masking unsightly impurities. Porcelain crowns are durable and provide a realistic and natural look to your smile. Using the revolutionary CEREC 3D machine, the procedure can be completed in a single, convenient visit rather than several visits. If you’d like to learn more about crowns, contact us today.

Dentures

If you are missing some or all of your teeth, dentures can restore the appearance of a full, healthy smile. Whether you require partial or full dentures, dentures increase your ability to chew normally and prevent sagging of the cheeks and lips. Modern technology allows us to custom fit dentures to your mouth and gums while ensuring they match your natural tooth color. If you’d like to learn more about dentures, contact us today.

Preventative Dentistry

While brushing and flossing are both important to maintaining healthy teeth and gums, it’s just as important to schedule regular dental visits for cleaning, fluoride treatments, and full oral examinations.

We use the latest technology to maximize comfort and convenience during your visit with us. For many procedures, we use air abrasion to safely blast away tooth decay, rather than an old fashioned drill. To locate cavities even in the hard to reach crevices in the mouth, we use the quick and harmless DIAGNOdent® laser reflection system. During a routine visit, we use our ultra-sonic scaler to clean your teeth with a controlled, high-pressure stream of water.

Family Dentistry

It is our mission to ensure that your entire family receives the highest quality dental care possible. Dr. McCormick and his staff have treated patients of all ages and understand the different concerns that face adults and children. Our familiarity with patients of all ages helps us create a calm, comfortable atmosphere, especially for children who may feel nervous about trips to the dentist. If you’d like to learn more about our high quality private dentistry, contact us today.

CAESY Patient Education System

The CAESY Patient Education System is a DVD designed to inform you of the dental procedures that are about to be performed. Before any procedure, you will have the opportunity to watch the DVD. Knowing what the dentist will do and how it is done relieves anxiety and ensures that your dental care is in capable, caring hands. If you’d like to learn more about the CAESY Patient Education System, contact us today.

Periodontics

Periodontal (gum) disease can have serious consequences if it goes untreated. Not only can you lose teeth due to infected gums, other serious health problems such as jawbone loss may occur. Detected early, we can help reverse damage caused by gingivitis. If caught late, we can use cosmetic dentistry to restore the appearance and health of your mouth. If oral surgery is involved, we use a carbon dioxide laser that cuts soft tissue without bleeding. The soft tissue laser often reduces the need for anesthetic, causes less swelling and discomfort than other techniques, and leads to a speedier recovery. If you’d like to learn more about periodontics, contact us today.

Endodontics (Root Canal)

Within each of our teeth, a long, thin strand of pulp that extends to the root of a tooth provides our teeth with nutrients. A cavity on the outside of the tooth can sometimes cause the pulp to become infected, killing the nerves and consequently killing the tooth. In order to save the tooth and avoid a serious jaw infection, a root canal is required. The procedure involves the dentist cutting into the pulp chamber of a tooth, removing the infected tissue, and permanently sealing the tooth. Contrary to popular belief, a root canal is often painless thanks to modern advances in effective pain control. If you’d like to learn more about endodontics, contact us today.

Extraction

In extreme cases when a tooth cannot be saved, it may be necessary to perform an extraction. An extraction is often used as preparation for a restorative dental procedure such as dentures. If you’d like to learn more about tooth extraction, contact us today.
